Introducing Kikr!
First of all I would like to say Happy New Year!! I hope you have a great year! I know mine is going to be awesome.
Anyhow, here is what this post is about KIKR!!
Last year I had the opportunity to test a new app. Kikr.
I also had the opportunity to interview the creators, Ali Sammour and
Morteza Nokhodian, of this really cool app. Here are the questions I asked them,
1. What is kikr?
Kikr: Kikr is a rewards program for the social generation (13-34 y/o). We allow users to earn cash back credits and personalized rewards based on their shopping and sharing behaviors via the app and use of the card. Our goal is to reward customers in everywhere whether shopping online or in-store at almost every store by building a platform that helps to cater the best offers and deals customized to your personal preferences.
2. How did Kikr came to be?
K: The founder Ali Sammour was traveling through Australia December 2014 and noticed the popularity of mobile payments in the country. Seeing the inevitable popularity of the service moving to the US and having a background in fashion while spending time in tech (having found 12oz denim in LA), he realized a huge opportunity to create a new financial tool and rewards service for a savvy, younger shopper. After conducting market research around how mobile shopping behaviors and the current popular services that cater to the fashion community (Instagram, Pinterest, Polyvore, etc.) he recruited a team of experts to tackle the concept of creating a completely new way to discover, share and shop between customers while rewarding loyalty. The team realized that one of the best ways to reward users for any purchases they make or influence would be “kickbacks” or cash rewards, which is how the name Kikr came about!
3. When did Kikr went live?
K: Kikr went live with a 1.0 on iOS and Android on December 12/23/2015.
4. What makes Kikr then other shopping apps out there?
K: Kikr is the only service that provides you with a Visa rewards card that pays you back for every purchase you, your friends or followers make from the items in your collections. We also allow you to create shopable posts from your own content that you may use on your other social channels such as Instagram & Pinterest to promote yourself while also directly sharing out to your other social channels. We also power a deals section that gives you any of the running offers being run by a partner store either online or in-store so its like a one-stop shopping tool!
5. Why a kangaroo?
K: Kangaroo because of the inspiration for Kikr while the founder was in Australia - and who doesn’t love a Kangaroo anyhow?!!
6. Brands. What brands are already participating and what brands are to come?

There has never been a social shopping platform that ties so many different parts of the online and in-store shopping journey together and we really believe that we can make it the post popular service used across the globe these next couple of years.
